The history of human application of pigments is long. In the early days, natural or simple pigments were used and applied to the surface of objects to enhance their appearance or make them easier to identify. Nowadays, pigment pastes are widely used in various interior and exterior wall building coatings (latex paints), water-based industrial coatings, water-based wood coatings, etc. Their functionality has also increased, and they have gained more favor from various industries. Pigment color paste refers to the process of mixing some colored pigment powder with water or solvent, adding dispersants and some other ingredients to make it into a liquid state. After being mixed by a high-speed mixer, it is then sent into a nano grinding machine where it is subjected to high-speed shearing with zirconium beads to meet the product requirements. In simple terms, the production process consists of the following three steps:

(1) First, the ingredients are pre-mixed. That is, according to the specified quantities in the process formula, the dispersing pigments and solvents are measured and added to the pre-mixing tank. The high-speed stirring equipment is started to mix them evenly. Then, the formula amount of dispersing aids and pigments are added while the tank is in the stirring state. Next, the defoaming agent is added to increase the rotational speed of the high-speed disperser, and thorough wetting and pre-dispersing are carried out.

(2) Grinding and dispersion: Add the pre-mixed slurry into the sand mill and disperse it to the required fineness as specified by the customer.

(3) Test the appearance, gloss, viscosity and other properties of the color paste, obtain qualified color paste, and store it in the color paste container.
