What are the main operating parameters of sand mill equipment?
A: Sand mill flow: affects product fineness, output and particle size distribution.
B: The linear speed of the stirring shaft: affects the grinding efficiency, material fineness and wear.
C: Media size: affects the efficiency of grinding and the fineness of the product.
D: Media filling rate: affects the efficiency of grinding and the fineness of the product.
E: Medium specific gravity: affects the efficiency of grinding and the fineness of the product.
- Flow rate of sand mill equipment: Flow rate and output are two different concepts. In the continuous grinding process, the absolute values of the two are equal. When circulating grinding, the output is 1/n of the flow rate (n number of cycles).
- Linear speed of sand mill equipment: The linear speed affects the kinetic energy intensity exerted by the grinding medium on the material particles, which is generally 8-15m/s.
- Size of grinding media: The grinding media used by sand mills are mostly round balls. The smaller the diameter, the more media are filled in the unit volume, and the more contact points between the grinding balls. Under the same grinding time, the product fineness increases. Too small grinding media often causes blockage of the sand mill outlet separator. Therefore, the structure and gap width of the sand mill separator determine the size of the grinding media. Generally, the diameter of the grinding media is 2-4 times the width of the gap in the sand mill separator.
- The filling rate of grinding media: This means that the sand mill is approximately optimal.
- Required amount for grinding effect: The filling rate of horizontal sand mill is generally 80-85%. The filling rate of vertical disc sand mill is generally 75-80%. The filling rate of vertical rod sand mill is generally 85-95%.
- Mass measurement method = effective volume of sand mill x filling rate (75-85%) x media bulk density. In short, if the grinding media filling rate is too high, it will easily cause the temperature of the sand mill to rise too high or the outlet to be clogged. The filling rate of the grinding media is too low, the grinding efficiency is low, the wear is increased, and the grinding time is extended.
- Specific gravity of grinding media: The greater the specific gravity of the media, the greater the kinetic energy and the higher the grinding efficiency. When producing offset printing ink, steel balls with a diameter of 1.6-2.5mm are generally used, while zirconia beads with a diameter of 0.3-0.8mm are used for abrasive inkjet printing.
